Weekend and Monday Homicides Puts Total Over 71 for the Year




Albuquerque -


On Saturday, June 11th, 2022, Albuquerque Police were dispatched to 604 Monroe Blvd NE. A caller stated he had been stabbed and was inside an apartment. When police arrived they found a suspect, identified as Valerie Hernandez, in an alley way.


According to a criminal complaint, Hernandez stabbed Pitka Hollmann in her brother's apartment. Hollmann was able to tell officers that he had been asleep and awoke to Hernandez punching him in the face and stabbing him with a screwdriver. Hollmann died at the hospital from his stab wounds.

On June 13th, 2022, APD was dispatched to the Buena Vista and Coal Ave SE of a male subject in the street. When officers arrived, they found the male with gunshot wounds. Albuquerque Fire Rescue declared the man dead on scene.


Police said neighbors heard gunshots around 3AM and are looking for leads in the case. BCSO updates:

Bernalillo County Sheriff's office confirmed two homicides from April 2022. One happened on 4/1/2022 that was a justified homicide from a home invasion. The other was a 4/22/2022 incident of Sheriff deputies finding a male beaten.


The 2022 total of homicides are at 71. Albuquerque had 60 homicides at this time in 2021.
