UPDATED July 12th, 2023 @10:44PM

At approximately 7:02 PM on July 12, 2023, the Albuquerque Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Maxine Street NE, in response to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an individual who had been shot and was in critical condition. Despite immediate medical attention, the individual died from their injuries while still at the scene.

One individual has been taken into custody in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and the area surrounding the incident remains closed.

On scene we observed police at a house with an address of 208 Maxine Street NE. There were a few vehicles in the driveway with red tape securing the crime scene. Family and friends from the incident were on the corner looking on as the scene was being investigated.

For the Albuquerque Metro area, this is the 76th homicide for 2023.

The cause of death for the two individuals from the fire at 3109 Pitt St. NE, are still pending with the OMI.

Our homicide totals always include both "non justified" homicides and "justifiable" homicides as the OMI does not differentiate between the two.
