Murder #118 Happens Early this Morning Near Downtown

On October 9th, 2023, around 4:20AM the Albuquerque Police Department received multiple shots fired calls near the 1100 block of 2nd St NW.

According to a witness, a person opened fired on an individual in front of a house on the east side of the street. While on scene we observed over 17 bullet casings marked for evidence. We could see a blood stained blanket on the sidewalk with evidence markers surrounding it. The yellow evidence markers portrayed a violent shooting scene.

The area is known for a large homeless population and it is unclear if any suspects are in custody. We will update the story if and when more information becomes available.

This is the 118th homicide of 2023 in the Albuquerque area. The Duke City is 20 homicides down from last year’s total.
