Morning Flight Diverted to ABQ Due to Security Threat
Updated: Oct 2
American Airlines flight 928 flying from Texas to an unknown destination had an undisclosed security threat on board. The plane landed at the Albuquerque International Sunport without incident.
There were 179 people aboard the plane when it landed and all were evacuated. We reached out to American Airlines for comment about what caused the security threat but we have not heard back from them.
The FBI's New Mexico office did send us an email:
The FBI is responding to a reported incident involving a commercial airliner that has landed safely at the Albuquerque International Sunport on Sunday morning. This matter is under investigation and no further information can be provided at this time. Updates will be provided when available.
The airport did experience delays as a result of the threat until it was finally cleared. We will update the story if we receive any more information.
