Man Stabs Victim in SE ABQ, Suspect Barricaded in Motel

SE Albuquerque -
A man call APD and said he stabbed someone in self defense in SE Albuquerque near Central and General Stilwell Ave SE. When Officers arrived the man refused to talk to Police and he is currently barricaded inside the Luna Lodge Motel. Albuquerque Police are on scene trying to get the suspect out of the motel. The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
This is the second violent knife attack in the last 24 hours in Albuquerque. We will update the story as more information becomes available.
The victim had a severe knife wound to their arm.
The suspect Bennie Chavez '64 was taken into custody early this morning and is at MDC.
