Valley Albuquerque -

Members of the City of Albuquerque Solid Waste Management completely cleaned out Coronado Park near I40 and 2nd Street. The park is popular with the homeless population for the past decade.

The crews came in with dump and trash trucks to clear out tents, bikes, and other items in the park. A worker on site said it was temporarily closed and were preventing anyone from reentering the park during the clean-up.

The homeless people had all appeared to have relocated to a dirt lot at 3rd and McKnight. The Solid Waste workers on site kept repeating the park would re-open at 4PM today. Calls to the Solid Waste Management public information officer were not returned to confirm the temporary closure and why the clean up took place in the first place.
