Corrales, NM -
In the last few days multiple agencies along the middle Rio Grande River valley have had an unprecedented amount of river rescues because of this years high river flow. A host of agencies from Corrales, Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, and Bernalillo County Fire and their law enforcement partners held a press conference today. The event was held on the bank of the west side beach head at Siphon Beach in Corrales, N.M. The purpose of the event was to warn about the dangers of the river in its current state.
Fire and law enforcement officials were on scene to warn but to also give advice to people launching from the beach head. Bernalillo County and Albuquerque Fire Departments had a hovercraft patrolling the river for potential rescues. While we were on scene rescuers went up river to rescue a paddle boarder who was stuck in the river.
