Ashely Loya, 18, of Albuquerque
Albuquerque, NM - On February 10th, 2023, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of drag racing at the Isleta Amphitheater parking lot. One deputy was intentionally rammed by a vehicle fleeing the area. The offender, Ashley Loya (18) fled the crash and was pursued by another deputy until she eventually crashed in the median of University Blvd just south of Rio Bravo. Multiple deputies apprehended Ashley from out of the vehicle and charged her with aggravated battery on a police officer, aggravated fleeing, and DUI.
According to the criminal complaint, Loya told deputies she "freaked out" and said she was going "pretty fast" when she took off from the scene. She said she crashed her vehicle to avoid hitting another vehicle in her pursuit away from the BCSO deputies.
The deputy who was rammed by the teen offender was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
Loya does not have any prior adult criminal cases in the New Mexico court system.
