APD Bomb Unit Talking to One of the Reported Suspects

The Walmart on Carlisle has reportedly been evacuated due to an individual writing a note, handing the note to Walmart security guard and the individual leaving the store. The note reportedly referenced some sort of bomb threat. Walmart Security guards observed the individual that wrote the note and at least two others get into a white Ford van and leave the Walmart parking lot.

APD followed the white Ford van that the suspects got into to American Home Furniture on Carlisle, and the van is reportedly now parked near the ABQ Oasis. Reportedly, APD has asked those in the Oasis to shelter in place.

This is an active and developing situation. We have reporters headed to the scene and will update you as we learn more information.

UPDATE:

Walmart has reportedly been given the all-clear from APD and is now allowed to have employees and customers return to the business.

As of 10:55 AM, the situation is still ongoing. The Oasis is still being asked to shelter in place for their safety due to the proximity of the van to the business. The APD Bomb Squad is on the scene.

As of 11:10AM the van was given the “all clear” by APD’s bomb squad. Affected businesses in the area were told they no longer needed to shelter in place, and patrons were allowed to leave.
