U.S. District Court Judge David Herrera Urias today granted a temporary restraining order against Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s recent order banning the lawful carry of firearms in Bernalillo County. The ruling cited the orders’ direct conflict with the Second Amendment and will halt implementation of the order pending a final hearing.

The ruling halts the implementation of the order pending a final hearing, which is scheduled for Oct. 3. The order only applies to Section 1 and Section 4 of the public health order.

We reached out to Governor Michelle Lujan-Grisham for comment and are awaiting a response. Pro second amendment and constitutional advocates see this ruling as a victory.

The court date is 25 days into the public health order which was set to expire in 30 days.
