Westside Albuquerque - On Friday night, Darnell Hill, his girlfriend, and their daughter went to Flix brewhouse on the Westside of Albuquerque to enjoy a movie. According to a criminal complaint, Hill left the movie theatre at some point and returned inside with a .223 rifle loaded with a magazine containing 24 rounds of ammunition.

The complaint says Hill entered the movie theatre with the AR-15 style weapon and employees noticed him and immediately started to run out of the theatre. Hill then went into the kitchen area where multiple employees confronted him. The employees reportedly tried to engage in a discussion with Hill. The criminal complaint goes on to say, “after a short time of talking with Darnell, other employees move behind him and are able to wrestle the AR-15 away from him and secure the firearm in an office. The employees escort Darnell out and call 911.”

Bernalillo County Sheriff's Deputies arrived on scene and took Hill into custody. They interviewed Hill's girlfriend and she said Hill told her he needed to get "drank" and "yay" and left the theatre. The Deputy noted that those slang terms were street slang for alcohol and cocaine. The complaint does not state what movie Hill and his family were seeing. The ones listed for that time from were John Wick 4, Shazam!, Fury of the Gods, and Scream VI.

Hill was charged with negligent use of a deadly weapon. He has a criminal record dating back to 2015 ranging from aggravated assault to battery on a police officer. He has avoided long term jail time with most of the cases being deferred or dismissed.
