Albuquerque -

The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) is currently investigating a suspicious death that occurred during a dispute on Madeira Dr. near San Mateo Blvd. and Kathryn S.E. The incident unfolded earlier today, with officers responding to a conflict between two individuals.

An adult male involved in the dispute has lost his life, prompting the involvement of

APD's Homicide detectives who are now diligently working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this death.

The location of the death was the at the Lanai Apartments at 1033 Madeira Dr in the courtyard. We observed items from the Dollar Tree on the sidewalk and detectives walking into the courtyard to gather evidence. There could have been a secondary scene with APD having a scene secured a 100 yards south of the death.

While this death has not officially been classified as a homicide yet, pending the cause of death ruling from the OMI, it might be the 131st homicide in the Albuquerque metro area for 2023.

On Tuesday night, APD's civilian PIO announced that APD's homicide detectives have charged and arrested Geraldine Begay for today’s murder of a man in front of an apartment in Southeast Albuquerque.

As Begay has formally been charged and arrested, this is the 131st homicide for the Albuquerque Metro area for 2023.
