NW Albuquerque – APD released the identity of a shooting victim who died while attending a party on Albuquerque’s West Side over the weekend.
According to an email from APD, the victim is Jada Gonzales, 18, who was a student at The Albuquerque Academy. APD leaders and victim advocates have been in touch with Gonzales’s family and the leadership at Academy.
The email goes on to say, homicide detectives have determined there were at least two shooters who fired guns shortly before 1 a.m. on Dec. 18, during a party being held at a home located at 5205 La Bajada Rd., N.W. Jada Gonzales who was inside the home at the time, was struck by at least one round. She later died at a hospital as a result of her injury.

The house was listed for sale and it is unclear how the party goers were able to gain access to the house.
In a copyrighted story in February The Albuquerque Journal had featured Jada where they touted her time working for the city of Albuquerque as a youth worker for the summer. According to a MaxPreps, Gonzales was on the Junior Varsity girl's basketball team for Academy.
A GoFundMe shared by the family to cover funeral expenses says she had plans to attend Texas Christian University after graduation.
APD is asking for anyone who may have video from this tragic incident to share it with investigators at this evidence submission portal or submit tips to crimestoppersnm.com
We reached out to Albuquerque Academy for a statement on the loss of Gonzales and what kind of student she was. We will update the story when we hear back from them.
