Albuquerque, NM -

On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at approximately 10:30PM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a fire in a six-unit apartment building at 503 Pennsylvania SE. AFR reported that sixteen units responded to this fire.

Ladder 5 was first on scene. Initially, they reported only light smoke showing. However, as crews searched to locate the source, smoke production increased exponentially. Fire crews evacuated all occupants from the building while they continued to search for the fire. Eventually, the fire was located in the attic space and it was successfully extinguished.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. AFR remained on scene for approximately 2 hours and 35 minutes while they mopped up additional hot spots.

Apartment management relocated all six occupants to other vacant apartments.

AFR says the cause of the fire is reportedly under investigation.
